Scheduling and Planning

The scheduling of R/V CAPE HATTERAS is usually done at least a year in advance and commonly encompasses a calendar year. Requests are submitted on a NSF-UNOLS Ship Time Request Form 831. Once cruise time has been allocated to a project, it is the responsibility of the Principal Investigator to plan the details of the cruise, including participation by other scientists. During planning, the Investigator should consult the Executive Officer, who may be able to suggest cooperative or auxiliary research projects which would fit into the scope of the primary scientific work.
